The driving force behind her diverse professional activities is the belief that no one should be denied the opportunity to progress to the level of musical proficiency that they desire: this could relate to health and wellbeing, social and financial status, or any other aspect perceived as a barrier. Her primary employment is with the University of York as a Lecturer in Music Education within the School of Arts and Creative Technologies. Her current research focuses on the experiences of tertiary level music students taking part in an undergraduate module entitled 'Musicians' Health and Wellness' and the effects of participation in this module on health-promoting beliefs and behaviours. One aspect of this project focuses on ethical practice when conducting research with students that we also teach, which relates to considerations within the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning field.
