The aim of the dissertation project is to empirically explore the ethical practice of qualitative researchers. For this, she conducts interviews with qualitative sociologists, including PhDs, Post-Docs, and professors, in Austria and Germany. The thesis is located in the field of (sociological) science studies and higher education research. The project aims to enrich the debates on research ethics in the social sciences, on reflexive ethical practice, and the sociological research of research practice in social science. This project is funded by a DOC grant from the Austrian Academy of Science (ÖAW).

Research Interests:
Carla Scheytt is doing her PhD in sociology on research ethics and qualitative methods. She studied at the Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB) with a focus on empirical social research methods. In 2020, she received the student award for outstanding scientific theses for her master's thesis, awarded by the rector of the Ruhr-University Bochum. She worked as a research assistant at the Center for Research Methods and the Chair of Sociology/Organization, Migration, Participation (2020-2022, RUB). Since October 2022, she is a doctoral researcher the in the Institute of Sociology in Innsbruck.
